Las Vegas Convention

Jake is required every two years to get continuing ed hours for his licensing. One of the biggest veterinary conventions in the US is in Las Vegas over President's Day. So, Jake had to go up, and well, he didn't want to go alone, so I got to join him Monday evening.

Now Las Vegas isn't my very favorite city and most of the atmosphere is beyond me. . .but, we were able to do some fun things. One of the things that we have been told we "NEED to do" is the Tournament of Kings at Excalibur. This was the year, there was a performance and we were willing to pay. We got to be on the Russia team on the second level. It was fun.

Bayer Animal Health brought in the band Foreigner for the conference attendees. It was kind of exciting to be in a smaller venue with a bigger name band. We didn't stay the whole time, but I was surprised Jake was willing to go :).

Obviously, I forgot my camera, so I don't have any pics of the friends we were able to catch up with, and oh, yeah, it was fun to just spend time with Jake as my parents kept all three boys for the three days! He said that he doesn't want to go to Vegas next time, I suggested Hawaii?!! He might reconsider Vegas after all!
And oh yeah, Leslie, I MISSED you -- Vegas just isn't as much fun!

Dr. Seuss Bathroom

So, I am getting smarter and working with my enviroment rather than mourning my losses :), in other words, I downloaded the drivers for my computer and can use that as a resource now!:)

A few weeks ago, we were wahing my old shower curtain in the boys bathroom, and I decided that I wanted to change it out. . .So, I got busy, painted it (Thanks Denise for the help on that!), did some online shopping, searched for cute ideas on the blog, and went to work! I love how it turned out, I still want to do some vinyl fish and a Dr. Seuss saying. . .but for all who are fearful of a bathroom of boys ;) -- here you go!

Ryan's Baptism

Ryan's getting baptized on Saturday! He is getting so excited! To invite our family members, my AMAZING Visiting Teacher, Marry Jordan, took some pictures of him for my invitation! Here are a couple that I LOVED. . .I used one of them for the invitation! Marry is a photographer in Gilbert. . .if you are looking for someone that goes beyond the "norm" and is just amazing. . .well, she's your girl! Thanks Marry!

If I didn't get you an invitation, and you want to come, we would LOVE to have you!

Viruses Abound

Life is never boring at our house. This morning I had a list of things to do, and I was trucking along putting out a fire from the office and getting the kids off to school. All of a sudden, a crazy thing tried to take over my computer -- no worries my virus protection and firewall will take care of it, right? Wrong. My computer that has all of the books for the office was taken over, and right now, I am sitting on needles, wondering if I will have any of my information when the microsoft calls me back. . . the stress! Did you remember it is tax time and EVERYTHING was READY for the taxes? Did I mention we are having company next week?! I just have to hope that it will all be there. . .I watched the guy break my computer as I sat there! Say a lttle prayer for me, will you?!

Cub Scouts

In our new ward, the pack meetings for the boys are fun. They had the Blue and Gold Banquet last night and one of the things that they did was had a birthday cake decorating contest for the boys to compete in. Ryan was all over this. He told me kind of what he wanted to do, and I did what I could to help facilitate (baking the cakes, and purchasing the supplies to make the cake), and after homework, he went to work!

I think he was pretty happy with his cake. He took second place. It was all good.

One of the things that this ward does that I think is cruel and unusual, in fact honestly, I don't get it, is they let the boys paint their mom's face for 30 seconds, something about welcoming them to the pack. I don't think anything says welcome to a mom more than letting her eight or ten year old pain their face! I made it through the painting, I am still not totally in love with the corrupt idea of paint. At least Ryan liked it!

Monster Jam

Last night, Jacob, Ryan, Jake and my Dad went to the Monster Truck Jam at Chase Field. Ryan has gotten interested in Monster Trucks for a few months. . .he was up late watching tv and found that they were on EVERY night at 10 pm, so he decided that once a week he could watch them. . .Friday is the day. So, when we saw them coming to town. . .he started asking. . .little did he know, we already had tickets!

Despite his face in the picture, he LOVED it! Jake let him have the camera, and I am the proud owner of about forty pictures taken from the third tier of Chase field. But it was a fun night!

Somehow, I messed up the pics, but not to worry -- Ryan loved "Gravedigger" and so did Jacob, but Jacob also loved "Donkey Kong" but that was because he came in first! The boys, Jake and my dad had a wonderful time.

Spence and I spent a fun filled evening together, other than soem needful errands I needed to run, the night was all scripted by Spencer. We started off by finishing the errands and then we were off to Denny's for dinner (remember it was his choice :)). My mom met up with us to eat. After dinner we wnet and got blizzards at DQ and we were home to watch Liberty Kids for the evening. At around 9:30, I asked if he wanted to go lay down with me in my room, and he was asleep in just a few minutes. We enjoyed our evening as much as the boys!
