Spring Break

For Spring Break, we had a blast, water, water, snow cones, and more snow cones, movies, friends, and fun!
 

I spent the week, lifeguarding and enjoying the boys.  They had friends almost every day at our house.  We loved it. They went through twenty pounds of ice with snow cones at our house. . . probably 1000 water balloons. . .Every day, we had to refill our hot tub. . .
  

One day, we went to the movie and for snowcones.  They had them half price, if you dressed up appropriately.  Spencer was sporting a stylish white mustache. (mustache was the theme for the day) 
Spring Break was a BLAST -- it wore me out, it taught me all the things I need to plan for the summer, and I can't wait for the fun of summer!

Pi Day

On 3.14 we celebrated Pi day.  We had all things round, pizza to eat, shaving cream pie throwing, pie eating contests, money digging and 28 excited buddies to boot (and an unsupervised water fight boys against girls).   It was a blast!

 

 

 

 

 

Air Show

During Spring Break, we took advantage of Williams Field Air show, and went and checked out the airplanes and helicopters that they had on display.  My boys really enjoyed the army planes and helicopters and pretending they were shooting guns.  I loved that the air park was fifteen minutes away and Chick Fil A was on the way home. 

True Blue

The month of February has been a very busy month, we installed a new computer system at Jake's work, learned a new program for Jake's office, redid the front of Jake's office, several field trips, a trip to Las Vegas. . .and get ready for Ryan's LAST pinewood derby!!!!  This one was the hardest.  Ryan has done very well in the Pinewood derby, so he has very high expectations.  This year we were worried.  Really worried.  But, somehow. . . we got True Blue up and Running, the day before the race.  I was due FIVE days before.  Aaack! 
 

 

True Blue didn't disappoint.  It only got beat by one car and came in third overall -- unfortunately, they didn't race it against the second place car. . . but when you are in charge, it is really hard to say something. . .and who cares.  We were just glad that there was a car to race, and that it won a race. 
My sweet friend Amy took the photo of Ryan on the top, she is a photographer and did most of the work on the awards and made pit passes. . .she is pretty much amazing!  It was fun for the boys, and it is good to have it done!   Way to go Ryan and troop 498, you are all amazing!

Desert Sonoran Museum

Two days after I got home from Las Vegas, I was on a chartered bus to Tucson with Ryan and his classmates.  It was an early morning, and a long drive, but it was amazing once we got there.  Ryan and his friend Abe were the two I was assigned to, and it was amazing the things we were able to see.   

Abe is pretty interested in owls.  So, when we learned that they were going to be training the great horned owl at noon, we made it a point to be there.  It was amazing, the owl was flying right over our heads.  

The museum was really interesting, they have a lot of hands on things for the kids to learn about the desert southwest.  The boys climbed into the shell of a tortoise and pretended to be turtles.  It was entertaining.    

They have a cave that you can go spelunking (or however it is spelled) and the boys loved going through it, and especially when there were girls in their class around so they could scare them.  They also have a display so you can pretend to be a mouse or a bat and see how big the ears would be in relation to your body.   

In random places they had volunteers to show people about different things or animals, Abe was really excited to see the barn owl. 
Even though it was a whirlwind week, I am glad I got to go with Ryan and his class!

Complicated Sense

Jacob had an Industrial Technology class this semester at school.  He told me early on that he was doing his bridge himself, as he doesn't like working in groups most of the time.  So, naturally, I worried, but just hoped he would be able to handle the time frame they were having to do the project in, and get a decent grade.  I didn't ask much about it, and forgot about it after a while.  So, when he told me about a week ago that his bridge was able to take a 148 amount of pressure, I was curious about what the measurement they used, he said I don't know, lbs was the abbreviation. You mean it took a 148 pounds of pressure?!! I guess so, I asked how much pressure was the highest -- "oh I don't know, about 128 pounds."  His teacher told him that he had the record in his class period. 
I was talking to him on the way to school about it, and he said that most kids think bridge building is hard, but for him it is almost common sense, he paused for a minute and said for him it is complicated sense.  Here is a picture of his complicated sense -- way to go Jacob!

Lilly

This is Lilly.  She is one of my good friends little girls.  She is three.  She is also one of my family's favorite visitors. 
 

She is also showing me why it is a good thing we don't have a girl.  She is spoiled by everyone.  The boys will do anything for Lilly, I will do anything for Lilly, Jake will do almost anything for Lilly. 
 

She sometimes sits with us at church.  She gets to play with my iphone more than my boys do.  Here are some pictures of my boys at church responding to Lilly.

Las Vegas

Jake and I went to Las Vegas for a couple of  days in February so Jake could do continuing ed classes.  While he is in class, I get to wander around the convention floor and find the new gadgets for his office.  I describe it as I like to wander the convention floor about as much as he likes to go to the mall.  I just don't get excited about pet products and vet drugs.  I know, I know where are my priorities. But, I was able to win a 75$ gift card because of my determination, too bad no Ipad though.  I also have a 5$ Subway card, a 5$ Target card and a 10$ Starbucks card, so my time wasn't all wasted. 
While we were there, we went to the Bellagio and saw the dancing fountains, I love to watch them!  They are amazing!!  I also went and did the body exhibit -- I loved it.  Jake thought that it was terrible, I just said I was glad he didn't have to go.  I think the human body is amazing, and in the exhibit, they had some parts of the body preserved as I had never seen -- they had the blood vessels throughout the body on display and it had been preserved that way.  They forbade cameras, so no pictures.  We were going to go to a show, but we weren't on our game, so we just wandered.  We stayed at the Luxor and I liked it -- I wore a pedometer and it was amazing how far I walked, and walked, and walked!  It was fun, but I am glad to be home!
