In our new ward, the pack meetings for the boys are fun. They had the Blue and Gold Banquet last night and one of the things that they did was had a birthday cake decorating contest for the boys to compete in. Ryan was all over this. He told me kind of what he wanted to do, and I did what I could to help facilitate (baking the cakes, and purchasing the supplies to make the cake), and after homework, he went to work!
I think he was pretty happy with his cake. He took second place. It was all good.
One of the things that this ward does that I think is cruel and unusual, in fact honestly, I don't get it, is they let the boys paint their mom's face for 30 seconds, something about welcoming them to the pack. I don't think anything says welcome to a mom more than letting her eight or ten year old pain their face! I made it through the painting, I am still not totally in love with the corrupt idea of paint. At least Ryan liked it!

Poor Deanna (sorry probably spelled your name wrong)! The expression on your face just cracks me up though!
Wow...I don't think I would be all that thrilled about the painting idea either! I'm thinking...my kids already like to trash my house...why do I have to let them take over my face too!
I'm thinking I'm glad I have girls right now no scout face painting traditions in near future for me! Ryans cake looks awesome. Hope he enjoys scouts!!
That painting thing is crazy!!! But what a cute cake!
You are a VERY good sport!!!
